First of all, I know you don't wanna hear it, but a motivational problem is actually an emotional problem.
If you for example think about watching a netflix series or playing a video game, i doubt that anyone has ever had problems with procrastination before doing these activities.
I believe, that if work seems to be hard, it's a problem with your mindset towards this activity. If you'd like what you do, then work is never hard, or at least in my expereince it is like that.
For some people, writting is nothing but a torture, for my writting blog posts, books and storys it's the most enjoyable thing in the world. If I'm sad, angry or demotivated I always start writting. It helps me to cope with everything. So writting is never hard for me because it's just what I love so much.
But I do understand, that sometimes we have to do "hard work". I'm actually working hard every day in school. The day I stopped enjoying what I learned it got hard. But how can you do hard work for sometime even if it doesn't excite you?
Making everything fun
I know, this doesn't sound like the super masterplan to you but it actually really helps.
You've always got two choices. See everything negative or positive. Either way, you're going to do the work but in the second case it will be a lot easier, you'll be a lot faster and you may also start enjoying it even if it's not a topic you normally enjoy.
I got this tip from Ali Abdaal. He was a med student and built and 5 million sub youtube channel besides university.
In med schhol and as a youtuber he aplied this technique by making everything a little bit more fun. And it worked.
He started to convince himself that editing this video would be more entertaining than watching Netflix.
So, you've got two choices. If you wanna get ahead in life and become successfull, there won't be any possibility than doing this work anyway. But with a positive and funny mindset everything is going a little bit easier, faster and more enjoyable.
Working on the basics
A solid foundation is the key to everything. Without having this solid basis, you won't get far.
So start with this little disciplined tasks, slowly building a habit. And there'S one thing I can tell you, as soon as it is a habit, you win. You don't have to think about if you actually wanna do this now. You just do it.
I recommend on blocking certain times on your schedule for certain activities, in the best case, they should always be on the same day on the same time.
So your mind has this feeling of getting used to editing the video every wednesday from 6pm - 8pm.
That's also the reason why routines are a gamechanger. You get used to certain things and don't give yourself that chance to think if you feel like doing this now or not. It just get's done.
Smarter not harder
There are a bunch of studys out there which definitely proof that working more doesn't mean that you get more done.
And if you have a whole 10h workday infront of you with "hard work", you're more likely to not do anything at all.
But if you can convince yourself to actually make two sets of 2h focused work, I bet you'll get more done than otherwise.
This is also a technique I use for handling business & school.
It's important that you don't overwhelm yourself. You just have to get started somehow.
One thing should be said here.
If you really don't like what you do and the work does always feel hard, it's better to look for some alternatives. Doing work you dislike for a longer period of time can lead to burnout, etc...
These were just some tips for getting started with §hard work" which is actualllymeant to be funny & enjoyable. It's this tipical "I don't feel like doing it" mood, which you have to overcome to get to the fun part.
